Meet Moss and Roy

Yesterday, the K&N Air Filter arrived for Roy and I was more than ecstatic to install it.  I also have one in the 3, but never really noticed a difference in power as K&N’s website claims – it’s just the peace of mind that the car is “breathing” better.  Obviously, replacing the air filter of a 1-year old car versus a 16-year old car will probably yield different results as well as effecting its performance and efficiency.

This is the filter that I pulled out of the car – does this even look like it has ever been changed??! To think that it was driven from LA back to SF with this…

With the new filter, I’m hoping I’ll be getting better gas mileage and a happier performing Roy.

A pleasant day, sans 30-40 mph winds, called for a drive down Hwy 1 and 92 this Sunday with Justin.  We also made a stop at Barbara’s Fish Trap, which probably has the best Clam Chowder I’ve ever had and I’m not even a fan of clams.  Their entree was ok – I had something creamy with bay shrimp, I can’t believe I have to eat that for lunch because it was $22…can’t throw that away, ya know?!

March 20, 2009 – Dave & Busters MOCC Meet

Yay! Another meet with MOCC folks, this time at Dave & Busters.  I wasn’t planning on going to this, but in the last minutes I decided to and shoooot it’s far.  Once again it was cold and the company good – was nice to meet unfamiliar faces and see familiar ones again.  Surprisingly, one FD and three Miatas were part of the pack of ten plus 3s and P5s.  Good turn out! See you all at the next *closer* meet!

March 19, 2009 – A&W Norcal Roadsters Meet

Below are photos from the weekly Norcal Roadsters meet.  Most pics came out bad since lighting was low and I didn’t use a tripod.

It was nice to see such a big turnout, a little surprising even, but I found it a little unwelcoming and distanced.  Those that I did meet were nice, but I definitely wanted to learn more on what I can do with Roy from experienced Miata folks.  My experience at a previous meet, Wing Stop @ Union City, with MOCC members kinda spoiled me with the initial expectations of meets. Next time… <3

Twilight or Midnight Blue?

I like how the cars are staggered, but not the Sentra (wrong meet?)!

(The MSRP for the 1993 Miata LE in 1993 clocked in at $22,000.  In today’s dollars that would be $32,146.)

I purchased Roy 3/15/09 with approximately 76k miles.  We drove him back to San Francisco from Los Angeles and even though I was worried about how the long distance would affect this 16 year old car, we made it home safely! Along the way, the CD player stopped working; this is probably due to driving in the heavily traveled right lane on Hwy 5.

The photo was taken at a pit stop along Hwy 5; I’m not sure where exactly we are because everything was pretty much the same for 300 miles.

Considering the age of the car, the paint was in exceptional condition.  There were some scratches and dings that can be easily repaired.  The plastic housing for the rear lights were a bit faded and needed some polishing.  All in all, minor repairs and some TLC is all Roy really needs!
