About

the-it-crowd

|introduction||

This web log is based in San Francisco where I live and work; however, it will document the “lives” of my two cars – Moss and Roy.  If you are familiar with the BBC series “The IT Crowd“, I have named them after the main characters.  What does this say about me? I have no care for IT stuff (yes! I know where the button is and it’s not on my shirt!), but I think the show is absolutely hilarious and the characters are almost irresistible not to be referenced.  I don’t consider myself smart to computers or anything IT-ish, but the nerdy side of me adores this show.

I was always somewhat into cars, but I haven’t really been crazy into them until recently and I blame that on the company I keep =P.  To be honest, having a car hobby as well as a shopping craze (would I call it a hobby?) is so hard to balance! Should I get wheels? Should I get the miu miu handbag?

We’ll see…!

Scenic 3
I purchased Moss in June 2007 from Mazda of Oakland.  I had narrowed my car search down to the Mazda 3 and was not completely sure what color and trim I wanted.  Crystal White Pearl did peak my interest because it was soooo pretty, but during the browsing period it was not must-have. I made two more trips down to the dealership and settled on getting the Touring model because traction control was standard and the msrp was a bit less than the Grand Touring.  In the mean time, my parents were also being TOO pro-active in searching for a car – going to multiple dealerships without me and doing their own research.  On one of their trips they ended up back at Mazda of Oakland and a newly arrived CWP Touring 5speed hatch was available! The dealer, Simon Tse, ended up holding the car for us for a week and I drove the car off the lot with 13 miles! As of 3/13/09, Moss now has 13000 miles and reaching 2 years in June.

spicyroy
The mini rx-7! I acquired Roy on 3/16/09 from a guy in Los Angeles who owned it for about 1 year.

This photo shows Roy with Spicy, Justin’s Mazdaspeed Miata, in the garage – how cute! I am planning on using Roy as a weekend car in a way to keep his low milage and condition in good shape.

There are many things planned for Roy; mainly minor things, but this definitely will take the attention away from Moss.  A list of things to do will be posted soon!
